not our street (and that's okay)

The wind and the sky relaxed
As we found our backs on the grass
Folding it down for the winter to come
Numb to the crunch of the leaves
Acknowledging the breeze
And thanking the trees
For a lovely afternoon

With youth on our side
We tried
To make words in the road
But the cars rode
And none of them knowed
What they were doing
When they were pursuing
Their respective destinations

Shooting through words of love
Like chocolateless doves
They stayed us busy
By Constricting our productivity
Which could make nerves pop
But im glad they didn't stop
Or turn back
Cuz Hesitations
Or negotiated migrations
Would have kept us from our goal

Because the passing of them by
Causing leaves to fly
Turned out to be the soul
Of the moment
So we grabbed it
We worked with it
We believed it
We rolled
We laughed
We smiled
We rolled we laughed we smiled
We rolled laughed smiled
Rolled laughed smiled
Roll laugh smile
Roll laugh smile
Roll laugh smile
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat

And then we left
Never having read a street sign
